“This project will preserve all that has gone into this great community and the people who made it that way. All generations can see what the area has meant to so many of us and why it is so important to treasure it and build it even stronger.”

Stan Simpson, the first major donor to this project.

Lifetime Members

Stan and Wendy Simpson, Lifetime Members, recognized for their generous donation of land on Murray toward the creation of the Visalia History Museum and Cultural Center.

A Message from the Board

Stewards of Visalia's Heritage

Each of us joined the Board of Directors of Visalia Heritage because we believe in the vital importance of Visalia's past, present, and future. While the Tulare County Museum thoughtfully preserves regional history, Visalia's story is bigger, deeper, and still unfolding. It deserves a home of its own, a dedicated space where our unique local narratives can be explored, expanded, and celebrated.

We envision a center that honors Visalia's roots while bringing to life the diverse experiences of the people who have shaped, and continue to shape, our city. It will showcase the traditions of the Yokuts and Western Mono peoples, trace the evolution of our community, and serve as a hub for education, reflection, and cultural celebration.

To bring this vision to life, we are raising $6 million for the purchase and renovation of a permanent site. Your support will help preserve nearly 200 years of Visalia history and artifacts, create a learning venue that connects residents and visitors of all ages to our city's diverse heritage, and establish a welcoming space for gatherings, performances, and cultural exchange as Visalia's story continues to unfold.
