Our Mission Statement
Preserving Visalia's Civic Memory
Visalia Heritage advocates for, supports, and encourages the preservation of Visalia's historic structures, cultural resources, and the stories of the people who built this community.

Our Founding Purpose
Four Decades of Stewardship
“Historic preservation is not simply saving old buildings; it is about preserving the story and spirit of a place.”
– Richard Moe
Founded in 1978, we believe preservation is not only about saving buildings. It is about safeguarding the identity, diversity, and spirit of Visalia for generations to come. Our work spans four decades of community impact: from mobilizing 160 volunteers to survey Visalia's historic neighborhoods, to opening the Heritage Room at The Lofts at Fort Visalia, to leading the $6 million All Aboard Visalia! campaign to create the city's History Museum and Cultural Center.
